Who knew longing could carve wounds so deep?
That restraining the tides of yearning
Would feel like drowning in an endless sea?
Fleeting glances, passing echoes—
None could quench the thirst
To hold you once more.
Yet I know, I must silence my heart,
For every whispered love would shatter like glass.
A thousand prayers I weave into the night,
Threads of devotion spun for your joy.
And yet, beneath my quiet surrender,
Lies the ache of an unhealed wound.
Your essence lingers, a specter of light,
For you were the most radiant star
To ever grace my darkened sky.
And it is no folly to say
That my love was boundless, unwavering, true.
How long must I bear this torment?
Would fate grant me but a single moment?
To drown once more in your celestial gaze,
To run my fingers through the silk of your hair,
To laugh with your brightest smile,
To gather you close my shoulder,—one last time,
Before we utter our final goodbye—
A farewell as tender as the dawn,
Yet as haunting as the fading twilight.
