The Pandemic era of 2020 has shaped me into a "boring person". You know, it's been a year we stuck at home because all the schools and universities are being closed by the government due to the corona virus spreading prevention. The government also limited the office capacity that make so many people nowadays are working from home. Don't forget about the public area limitations in public area such as Restaurant, Movie Theatre, and Public Park.
But, right before this stressfuling pandemic hit Indonesia. I had a chance to visit a wonderful place in eastern java. Do you know what it is? It's Kampung Inggris Kediri. Actually, at first I didn.t really interested about this place because i had enough of study at campus and all i need is a holiday, not an assignments and lecturing. But something struck my mind, because I suddenly decided to stayed for 3 weeks in Kampung Inggris.
I boarded the train from Pasar Senen Station using Brantas Train, it took 13 hours before arrived at Kediri Station. As I arrived, the guy from the English course called Choice EC picked me up and after that we went straight to Pare where the Kampung Inggris is located. For your information, Kediri and Pare is different city and it is 30 minutes away from Kediri to Pare.
Okay lets jump to my first week in Kampung Inggris. We began the lesson from 7 AM to 8 PM 5 days a week. And yeah, it's something i used to because the life of a university student. We studied about basic english such as Grammars, Vocabs, and Listening. The lessons were being repeated for 3 weeks so your skills will improve as time passes by. Okay thats enough from studying life, lets move on to the "fun" side.
I read on the internet and also some of my friends told me about the price of food in Kampung Inggris. It was famously said that the food price in Kampung Inggris are very cheap. And Its True!!!. There's suprisingly Rp.3000 - Rp.5000 gap between the price in Jakarta and in Kampung Inggris. I felt like Richie Rich as i paid my 3 days meals in Kampung Inggris. Because of the low price of stuff in Kampung Inggris, it made me and my other friends had more money to go to recreational places every weekend.
As as said before, we saved more money and decided to rent a car to visited Malang. It took 3 hours by car from Pare to Malang. After a long discussion, we chose to visit Museum Angkut. It was our first time to visited Museum Angkut. Museum Angkut is a Museum where all the vehicles from around the world and from various ages are being stored. The Museum exhibited a hundred collection and placed it in a designated place from around the world so it makes us like come to the real place. Finished from Museum Angkut, we drove to the Malang city centre and sat around the city plaza until dusk and back to Pare.
The next weekend, once again we rent a car and visited Gemah Beach. It was located in Tulungagung, 3 hours drive from Pare. The beach were very clean and not many people know about this place. Eventhough it was located in southcoast of Java, the wave were not big and dangerous. We enjoyed eating instant noodle and cup of tea in a seashore alongside the fisherman who are resting after came back from the sea. And in this place, i had a chance to tried Sate Tutut. Tutut is conch mostly lived in paddyfield. Before we go back to Pare, we spent our last weekend in Simpang Lima Gumul, Kediri. There's a monument resembled Arch of Triumph in Paris, many youngsters were enjoyed the night breeze under the moonlight at this place.
For the conclusion, Kampung Inggris is very amusing place. You can feel the experience of living in the village and also meet new friends from all over places in Indonesia. The values I got from 3 weeks in Kampung Inggris is I forced myself to be disciplined and independent as i all alone there far from home. I highly recommend you guys to visit Kampung Inggris.
